Nicholas Cheon

Nicholas Cheon is a cellist working and studying in the Cincinnati area. He received a Bachelor of Music from Texas Tech University, studying with Jeffrey Lastrapes, and a Master of Music from the University of Georgia (UGA), studying with Dr. David Starkweather. He is currently studying for his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) with Ilya Finkelshteyn, principal cellist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
Nicholas Cheon is a cellist who has performed in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings across the U.S. and Canada, including in Alice Tully Hall in New York City and Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. He is currently a substitute cellist for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He has received many musical honors such as featured soloist of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) solo concerto competition concert in Spring 2025 and runner-up in the CCM chamber music competition in Spring 2024. Nicholas has taught private cello students of all ages and levels.
Nicholas loves to share his music through house concerts and performances at community events. He loves to spend his free time playing with his one-year-old son and enjoying physical activities such as hiking, skiing, and indoor rock climbing.
